A Real World Design Process

I’ve had the luxury of working on big projects for big brands with big budgets. I’ve had the privilege of working on tiny projects for tiny brands with non-existent budgets. I work on client projects, and open source projects. I work on our own internal projects. I work on personal projects. Through it all I have a design process. It grows and changes. It flexes with budgets and timelines, but at the end of the day, it’s the process that I keep coming back to. When I’m stumped, and my work sucks, it’s the process that gets it back in line.

I’ll talk about wireframing, and prototyping. When to use photoshop, and when to go straight to the browser. How to bootstrap a UX test, and when to ask your Mom for design advice. What steps you can skimp when you’re pinched for time, and how to find inspiration with our copping someone else’s work.
